Builders VC is one of the leading venture capital firms based in Silicon Valley and Canada. The Builders VC team has five core investment professionals and focuses on investing in companies that are revolutionizing antiqued industries like healthcare, industrials, agriculture and real estate.
As a small investment team many of the back-office functions like CRM management and deal-flow logging was something that the firm did not have the resources to handle without hiring a full-time analyst.
“Despacho helped take a significant weight off our shoulders through the support of our virtual assistant to help take control and management of all our CRM and deal-flowing reporting at the firm,” explained Amit Mehta who is a Partner at Builders VC.
Why did Builders VC need an outsourcing firm like Despacho?
Builders required a part-time resource to help with data entry to streamline their investment review process. With many of the deal flow information living in different data sources we needed a single source to help collect and enter that information inside our firmwide CRM tool.
What specific tasks did Despacho help Builders VC with?
Our Despacho EA works actively inside our CRM tool, Salesforce and Affinity to make sure that all deal and contact records are up to date and relevant based on the status of all contacts within in the firm. Overtime we have slowly increased responsibility to help with some light-weight scheduling for some of the team members at Builders VC.
What advice would you give to a new Despacho customer?
Ensure you setup the right protocols and permissions with your virtual assistant to ensure they have access to the correct systems to manage data integrity. Mapping out certain processes and protocols was key before we hired to help make the onboarding run smoothly.
This was Builders first experience with a virtual assistant. In the past they had defaulted to hiring full-time employees. Despacho came as a recommendation from a number of colleagues in the space and we have never looked back.
Despacho was a life-saver in really helping the firm hone in our investment process and relationship management tool to the best of its ability. For the nominal cost to have a part-time virtual assistant we saved the firm a significant amount of funds and allowed our team members to stay heavily focused on the high value tasks.
